How Body Optimization and Muscle Strength Treatments Work

Strength for the muscles that support your back, hips and bladder

Body optimization and muscle strength in Gulf Breeze, FL at Ready Pain Management helps active adults rebuild the muscle behind a strong back, steady hips and reliable bladder control. Dr. Douglas Boler, MD, an anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician with more than 20 years in the field, directs every plan. Our non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatments use focused electromagnetic energy to strengthen the core, glutes, limbs and pelvic floor, with no needles and no downtime for most people. Patients use them to recover from injury, protect muscle while losing weight and stay strong for work, training and family. Results vary from person to person.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Douglas Boler, MD, Medical Director. Last updated: October 2026.

High-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) triggers muscle contractions far stronger than you can produce in a workout, so the muscle adapts and grows stronger over a series of visits. The pelvic floor responds the same way. The MedlinePlus guide to urinary incontinence notes that strengthening these muscles is a first-line approach for many types of leakage.

Which Body Optimization Treatment Is Right for You?

Three strength options compared at a glance

The right choice depends on which muscles need help most:

  • Choose body contouring and muscle building for a stronger core, more muscle tone or support for an aching back.
  • Choose the pelvic floor chair if leaks or urgency bother you most.
  • Choose the combined program if you want both.

Frequently Asked Questions About Body Optimization

What is body optimization?

Body optimization is care that rebuilds muscle strength, tone and function so your body supports you better. At Ready Pain Management it means non-invasive technology that strengthens the core, glutes, limbs and pelvic floor. It is designed to work alongside pain care and healthy habits, not replace them. Dr. Boler matches treatment to your goals, whether that is less back pain, better balance or bladder control.

Is muscle-strengthening technology a replacement for exercise?

No, it works best as a partner to everyday movement. The device creates muscle contractions far stronger than a workout can, which helps people who cannot exercise hard because of pain or limited mobility. Many patients find it easier to stay active once their core and hips are stronger. Dr. Boler can suggest simple activity goals that fit your plan.

Who is a good candidate for these treatments?

Most healthy adults who want more core, muscle or pelvic floor strength are good candidates. They are common for people with a weak core and back pain, women after pregnancy, men and women with bladder leaks and adults protecting muscle during weight loss. People with certain implanted devices or metal near the treatment area may not qualify. Your consultation confirms safety first.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe the sessions as intense but not painful. You feel strong muscle contractions, and the body treatment adds a warming sensation. The intensity is adjusted to your comfort throughout the visit. There are no needles or incisions, and most patients return to normal activity right after a session. Mild muscle soreness, similar to a workout, can happen.

How much does body optimization cost?

Pricing is personalized and reviewed at your consultation based on the areas treated and the number of sessions. Ready Pain Management does not accept insurance, so care is self-pay. Financing is available through InstaPaytient (through Affirm), subject to approval, with terms set by the financing provider. We explain all costs before your plan begins.

Can my visits be done by telemedicine?

Your consultation and follow-up visits can be done by telemedicine. The treatment sessions themselves take place in person at our Gulf Breeze office. Telemedicine hours are Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM CST, and Thursday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, when we also see patients in person.
